ST-C5KVM KVM Extenders via CAT5: My mouse responds slowly/erratically when using the ST-C5KVM KVM Extender with a Linux based computer.
Author: Administrator, Created on: Apr 25, 2007 4:09 PM

Issue:
My mouse (MS PS/2 two button mouse with scroll wheel) responds slowly/erratically when using the ST-C5KVM KVM Extender with a Linux based computer.

Solution:

To ensure that the mouse functions properly when using the ST-C5KVM, ST-C5KVM-300 or ST-C5KVM-600 KVM extender on a Linux based computer, use a generic PS/2 mouse driver, or a specific driver for the mouse and reboot the computer.

If that does not resolve the issue, check the mouse driver settings located in X86config file. Compare it to the functional mouse config file given below and adjust your settings.

Sample mouse settings for a MS PS/2 two button mouse with scroll wheel:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
# If the normal CorePointer mouse is not a USB mouse then
# this input device can be used in AlwaysCore mode to let you
# also use USB mice at the same time.

Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
