How do I calculate the BTU Output (Head Load) of NTI Products?

To determine the BTU output:

  1. Determine the voltage and amp rating of the power supply of the product. This information can usually be obtained from the product documentation or on the product itself near the power receptacle.

  2. To determine the wattage of the product, multiply the voltage by the amperage. For example, a VOPEX-USBV-2 USB KVM Splitter has a power supply rated for 5 volts at 2 amps (found on back panel of product). Therefore, its wattage is 10.

  3. To calculate the BTUs/hour, multiply the watts by 3.413. For example, a VOPEX-USBV-2 USB KVM Splitter produces 34.13 BTUs/hour (10 watts x 3.413).

This calculation method can be used for any NTI product or electronic device. By using the power supply rating, the maximum rated current can be easily calculated. Since NTI products rarely produce their maximum rated value, the actual BTU value for a product will be less than the calculated maximum rated current.
