[65] ST-C5KVM-600 KVM Extenders via CAT5: The scroll wheel on my mouse does not function.    « Back to Category
Author: Administrator, Created on: Aug 23, 2006 3:24 PM
Language: English

Issue:
The scroll wheel on my mouse does not function.

Cause:
Some motherboards provide +5VDC keyboard and mouse power even when the host PC is powered down. This can interfere with the initialization of XTENDEX ST-C5KVM-600 KVM Extenders via CAT5.

Solution:
With the PC and ST-C5KVM-600 local and remote units powered down, try this power up sequence:
    1. Disconnect the keyboard and mouse ends of the local unit?s pigtail from the host
    2. Apply +/- 9VDC power to remote unit
    3. Apply +/- 9VDC power to local unit
    4. Reconnect the keyboard and mouse ends of the local unit?s pigtail to the host PS/2 ports
    5. Power up host

Alternate Solution:
Your motherboard may support disabling keyboard power via an onboard jumper or bios setting.

Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Mouse/Hardware/Properties/Advanced Settings and setup as follows:
  • Sample Rate = 60
  • Wheel Detection = Assume Wheel Is Present
  • Input Buffer Length = 100
  • Fast Initializaton = Disabled
