E-SDS or E-SDS-CE: How can I tell if my smoke detection sensor is working?

The smoke detector can be tested by using canned smoke or burning a small piece of cotton near the sensor while it is powered on.

If the sensor is functioning properly:

  • The sensor's LEDs should be on “Red” continuously.

  • If the ENVIROMUX-16D has a beacon and/or siren attached, the alarms should sound after the pre-configured alert delay time has elapsed.

To reset the sensor, wait till the smoke has dissipated and power cycle the sensor through the web interface. If the alert persists, there is still residue smoke in the sensor; wait a while before power cycling the sensor again.

Acknowledge the alert on the E-16D from testing the sensor in order to receive future alerts.
