Will my extender units be damaged if I run the CAT5 cable outdoors?

Yes, you run the risk of damaging the extender units.

When the CAT5 cable is run outdoors:

  • There is a chance of different ground potentials developing between the local and remote units of the extender that can damage the units.

  • There is the likelihood of the units being exposed to large electromagnetic pulses from nearby lightning strikes, built-up static and other interference that the XTENDEX KVM extenders are not designed to withstand.
