Will my extender units be damaged if I run the CAT5 cable outdoors?

Yes, you run the risk of damaging the extender units.

When the CAT5 cable is run outdoors:

There is a chance of different ground potentials developing between the local and remote units of the extender that can damage the units.
There is the likelihood of the units being exposed to large electromagnetic pulses from nearby lightning strikes, built-up static and other interference that the XTENDEX KVM extenders are not designed to withstand.
