How can I tell if my smoke detection sensor is working? You can test the smoke detection sensor using any strong magnet such as a used hard drive magnet or a door contact switch magnet. To do so:
  • Power the sensor on. The sensor's LEDs flash "Green" when the sensor is on.
  • Hold the magnet directly under the word "TEST" on the sensor.
If the sensor is functioning properly:
  • The sensor's LEDs should be on ?Red? continuously.
  • If the sensor is used on the ENVIROMUX-SEMS-16 with an alarm beacon, the alarm should sound after the alert delay time you set has elapsed.
To reset the sensor, unplug it and plug it back in. Also, ackowledge the alert on the ENVIROMUX-SEMS-16 or the E-MINI from the testing the sensor in order to receive future alerts.

Is there a way to wire this smoke/fire detector to operate as a normally closed sensor as opposed to normally open? As is, when the sensor is disconnected, there is no alarm indication, a 'no answer' status is shown on the utility, but does not alarm.
