ST-IPHDMI-2G: Control Methods When Using Video Wall & Matrix Applications

Built-in Video Wall App
The unit supports video wall applications in sizes ranging from 1x2 to 8x8 and can be programmed through any web browser by entering the IP address of the transmitter and using the video wall app GUI (graphical user interface).

Matrix Switching
If multiple transmitters are desired, a managed network switch with VLAN/IGMP support is required for video switching. Configuration settings can be controlled via the managed switch's own web interface (where applicable), with IP commands, or the switch's RS232 control port. Control software on a PC or other home automation controller hardware can be used to simplify the process.

Compatible managed network switches (requires Gigabit for best results):

  • Cisco SG300 Gigabit Series (no stacking)

  • Cisco Catalyst 2960 Gigabit

  • Dell PowerConnect 5400 Series (5424, 5448)

  • Dell PowerConnect 5500 Series (5524, 5524P, 5548, 5548P)

  • Dell PowerConnect 6200 Series (6224, 6224P, 6248, 6248P)

  • Netgear 7000 Series V2 (GSM7224, GSM7228PS, GSM7248, GSM7252PS)

  • Pakedge SW24-GBM, S24P

Note: The Built-in Video Wall App and managed network switch have to be controlled separately when attempting to combine the features; i.e. if a 3x3 video wall display is set up, the matrix switch can only change the source that is displayed, it cannot change the video wall display into a 2x2 with the remaining screens showing a different source. The Video Wall App determines the size of the physical video wall, the size of the active video wall display and the outputs of each non-video wall enabled screen that is part of the physical wall.

Purchasing the HDMI Over Gigabit IP Extender's Matrix Software with the Video Wall Add-On allows users to combine the control of both matrix switch and video wall appplications. However, the Video Wall Add-On is still responsible for configuring the physical size of the video wall.

Matrix Software
The Matrix Software provides fast and easy switching with customizable main screen layouts and icons for each video source. It supports up to 50 sources, 50 screens, and multiple switches. It can work as a standalone system or can supplement any RS232-based integrated control system. The software includes presents, sequence and screen groups function. TCP/IP control offers speed and convenience over any wired or wireless network connection. Does not support video wall capabilities; video walls will have to be configured and controlled separately with the Built-in Video Wall App.

Video Wall Add-On for Matrix Software
The Video Wall Add-On enables the Matrix Software to switch between multiple sources and displays on a fixed video wall size of up to 7x7 (49 screens). The Built-in Video Wall App (not Add-On) sets up the basic screen configuration and physical size of the wall, which limits the maximum number of screens a source can be stretched across. The Add-On provides fast switching through drag and drop function. The video wall display size (not physical size) and active screens can be adjusted through the drag and drop function. The remaining non-video wall screens can display identical or different sources. Requires the Matrix Software to operate.
