From a Solaris system command line, how do I connect directly to a port on a console switch (SERIMUX-SECURE, SERIMUX-SCRP) using either SSH or Telnet?

To connect directly to a port from a Solaris system command line using SSH or telnet:

At the console switch:

  • Configure the console switch to allow Telnet and Secure Shell sessions at the serial ports.
Login to the console switch with your username and password
Select ?System Administration? and ?Security Profile? and enable the
    preferred features.
  • Verify that the serial port parameters of the console switch match the serial port parameters of the computer.

At the Solaris System:

  • Open the command line terminal and state the session (Telnet or SSH) and the host name or IP address.
Telnet ( enter host name or IP address)
SSH ( enter host name or IP address)
  • Login with your username and password.
    username: root
    password (default): dbps
  • At the prompt, type ?portaccessmenu? and the port access menu will be displayed.
  • Enter the port number you want to connect to.
  • The console switch will then respond with ?Entering Server Port??.?. Press enter and it will display a login prompt.
  • Login with your user name and password to access the serial port of the server.
